First time we hang out with STRAT trainees on a weekend. They have been here for 2 months and they were already having fun, all over the States :p Joyce, the trainee with me in QC, and her 2 housemates were invited to WL's house for a weekend gathering. Before that, I brought Joyce to "her" kitchen for breakfast... ... Wahahahaha..........

Went to WL's house after that for our tai-tai activity - mahjong! They brought the mahjong set all the way from Singapore!!! Joyce baked us the tiramisu that she promised me :p As it would be WL's birthday the next day, it was like the 'cake' for her............ :p

After a few weeks of hectic-ness, it was time to pace things down... Thus there was NO special activity this weekend. WL suggested bringing some of us to a French restaurant that she has patronised before. According to her, the owner of the restaurant is suave. Though it was a rainy Saturday and we didn't feel like going leaving our cosy little beds, we still 'dragged' ourselves there.

Upon arrival, my jaw dropped when I saw the owner of The Parisian restaurant....



Ehhhhhh Not that the owner was really suave.. On the contrary..... -_-

Ok, maybe he's just not to my taste :p Wahahaha.... But on top of that 'disappointment', there was more! Coffee machine was down - NO specialty coffee :/ Lunch menu was cut down to only few entrees and one of our favourites - mussels was NOT available :/ NO selection of pastry/dessert, ONLY sorbet... :/ There were only 2 other patrons in the restaurant and hence the service that he provided was very personal. But because it was French cuisine, the lunch was pretty pricey...

Dinner, on the contrary, was total reversed that of lunch. There was a HUGE crowd and we waited for an hour before we got our table. The setting of this new eating place was really casual. In view that there would be a lot of people in line waiting, the waiting area was designed to be BIG and then there is a barrel of peanuts for patrons to feed on when they are waiting! That was not the best thing, the BEST part was people could just throw the peanut shells onto the floor! Kekeke.....

Bread rolls were served first and they were simply different from the other restaurants' bread. Customers could see them being made fresh and they come with their signature, homemade honey-cinnamon butter! Beverages were refillable and before we finished our first glass, the second glass was being served...


We ordered a chicken chop and a porkchop that came with 2 sides each. We ordered a salad each and a potato.. Look at the size of the salad SIDE...

It's almost like a main salad course..... Then came our mains......


When we were having our dinner, there were waitresses dancing to the music, to liven up the crowd as well as to provide entertainment!


The food was, however, saltish to our taste. But we would be back! keke...

Set off for NYC in the middle of the night. Got onto the 230am coach pretty late and the 4 of us were separated. Poor me has to sit next to the toilet and poor KY has to sit next to a BIG snoring 'teddy bear'... Didn't really get to sleep during the 4-hr ride to NYC and before we knew it, we have arrived at Timesquare at about 630am! Made our way to YMCA, Flushing to realise that we couldn't check in till it was 3pm!!!

Went for breakfast after a quick wash up before we went on separate ways... SF and KY to catch their musicals, AL and me to catch the USOpen Mens' semi-finals at Arthur Ashe Stadium which was just a station away from Flushing Main St.

Look at the crowd. It was only 9am!

The officials were pretty strict with the security. Bagpacks of ALL sizes were not allowed into the stadium. Hence, AL has to have her bagpack checked-in at a price of $3... The gate would only open at 10am but there was already a queue at the entrance.


It was photo-taking and shopping time, as the first match would only start at 1145am!

That was the winning shot and I was kinda disappointed that I couldn't be there for his 4th USOpen Champion title... Nonetheless, at least I have been here before :p

Was dead beaten for the day. Went for a simple dinner before we dozed off during Henin's match at 9+pm......

4 dishes and 1 soup for $4.50... Cheap, isn't it?
